Closing Night
As we come to the close of the 1st KOFFIA Korean Film Festival in Australia, we aim to send our guests off with a new found passion for Korean cinema. Your Hunger for Drama will have been satisfied, as we will have served up a real feast of cultural efforts. The cherry on top is our closing night film “Castaway on the Moon”. Directed by Lee Hey-jun, “Castaway on the Moon” is about a man, Mr Kim, struggling to survive on a deserted island. His only hope and last chance rests on growing black boon noodles from scratch! It’s a boy meets girl romance, with a difference.
The night will be a special occasion as we thank our guests for what will have been 5 days of fun and festivities. All attendees will be served a portion of the traditional dish loved by all Koreans, Black Bean Noodle. The audience will feel the same desire for the culinary delight as Mr Kim, as you are left with the hunger for more, placing you in his shoes on the sands of the Han River.
We will have our Closing ceremony speeches and thankyou’s, acknowledging the support of those that worked so hard to make KOFFIA happen as you drink some Sikye (Korean rice nectar). This will be the start of many fruitful partnerships that we hope to flourish over the years as KOFFIA comes back bigger and better. We will then screen some of the best Moments of the festival, including Hungry for Talks and our captured voxpops. The film will be followed by a Q&A with festival guests, Director Lee Hey-jun and Producer Kim Moo-ryung.
We invite you to be a part of this event and hope that we have successfully opened people’s eyes to the magnificence of Korean cinema and to the wonders of Korean culture. KOFFIA will have stacked its claim on the Australian circuit. The Korean wave will have truly landed on Australian shores. Now we prepare for it to return in 2011.
